In a world where humans are the ᴅᴏᴍɪɴᴀɴᴛ species, we often forget that animals, too, have emotions, and they feel ᴘᴀɪɴ and sᴜꜰꜰᴇʀɪɴɢ just like us. This story is about a pregnant mother dog ᴀʙᴀɴᴅᴏɴᴇᴅ on the street, ʙʟɪɴᴅ in one ᴇʏᴇ, and left to fend for herself and her unborn puppies.
Meet Pregnant Mother Dog Addie!
Addie is a resilient and loving dog who captured the hearts of everyone who crossed her path. Unfortunately, Addie was ᴀʙᴀɴᴅᴏɴᴇᴅ on the street, ʜᴇᴀᴠɪʟʏ pregnant, and with a ʙʟɪɴᴅ ᴇʏᴇ.
Fortunately, a report reached us in time, and we rushed to save her before she gave birth. We knew Addie and her puppies would not sᴜʀᴠɪᴠᴇ on the ʜᴀʀsʜ streets.
We took Addie to the vet for a thorough check-up. Despite her ᴄʜᴀʟʟᴇɴɢᴇs, she was relatively healthy. Dr. Jeff did an initial ᴇʏᴇ exam and discovered that Addie was completely ʙʟɪɴᴅ in her right ᴇʏᴇ.
She also had a ɴᴀsᴛʏ ʏᴇᴀsᴛ ɪɴꜰᴇᴄᴛɪᴏɴ in both ᴇᴀʀs, which was promptly ᴛʀᴇᴀᴛᴇᴅ. Her sᴋɪɴ and ᴄᴏᴀᴛ were in ᴘᴏᴏʀ ᴄᴏɴᴅɪᴛɪᴏɴ, but we knew that she would recover once she was done nursing her litter with a good diet and ᴍᴇᴅɪᴄᴀᴛᴇᴅ ʙᴀᴛʜs.
The question on everyone’s minds was how many puppies Addie would have. On day 2, she gave birth to four boys and two girls. They were all strong and nursing well, with no ᴄʟᴇꜰᴛ ᴘᴀʟᴀᴛᴇs.
Addie was ᴄᴏᴘɪɴɢ admirably despite her circumstances. She ɴᴀᴘᴘᴇᴅ while her puppies had their post-breakfast snacks on day 7.
Addie’s Puppies Grew And Thrived
They were named Bowie, Cole, Dolly, Ella, Freddie, and George, and they brought joy and laughter to everyone who met them.
On day 16, they were a bundle of puppy cuteness; on day 17, they were full of playful energy in their whelping box.
Addie’s puppies reached three weeks old on day 22, and they were doing well, except for a bit of escapade that led us to modify their puppy area and ʀᴇᴍᴏᴠᴇ the kiddie pool.
Ella, one of the puppies, had much to say about it! But, ᴅᴇsᴘɪᴛᴇ the ᴍɪsᴄʜɪᴇꜰ, Addie and her nuggets were all healthy and growing, ranging from 2 to 2.6 lbs.
On day 27, Addie and her little ones were all about love; on day 31, they were awake and ʜᴜɴɢʀʏ, keeping us on our toes.
Addie was a loving and attentive mother, always caring for her puppies’ needs. Day 36 brought heartwarming moments between Addie and Freddie, one of her puppies.
Addie’s Story Is One Of Triumph Over ᴀᴅᴠᴇʀsɪᴛʏ!
Addie’s puppies continued to grow and develop their personalities as the days passed. Ella and Cole were not ʙᴏᴛʜᴇʀᴇᴅ by the ᴡᴏʙʙʟʏ movements on day 44, and on day 51, there was playful morning time with the puppies.
Day 56 brought new adventures as the puppies put on their sweaters and played outside like a pack of little ʜᴏᴏʟɪɢᴀɴs, bringing laughter and joy to all who witnessed it.
On day 70, Addie and her chubby nuggets were invited to the “Puppy Power Hour” at Central Bark, where they had a ʙʟᴀsᴛ and displayed their confident and relaxed personalities.
We were proud of how far they had come and their resilience.
This story is a testament to the power of compassion and love. It shows us that there is always hope, even in the ᴅᴀʀᴋᴇsᴛ times. We must always remember that animals are living beings who deserve our respect and care.
Our responsibility is to care for them and ensure they live a life free from sᴜꜰꜰᴇʀɪɴɢ and ᴘᴀɪɴ.
