In this video, a 90-year-old man sadly bids farewell to his neighbor’s dog, a chocolate lab that has turned a sugary white from old age.
He and the dog are good friends. And, the dog adored him. He brought her biscuits every day and she undoubtedly looked forward to each visit with her buddy. He’s surely going to miss her.
Even though it broke his heart to do so, her owner let him accompany her to the bridge to say goodbye. Her love for the man is obvious because even at this time, she greets him with a wag of her tail, she is so happy to see him.
She spends her final moments laying on the green grass in her yard, with her family nearby, when he goes to her. Despite his age, he kneels down on the ground to rub her sweet belly and show her how much he loves her.
She keeps her chin up and exudes joy upon his arrival. She seemed to appreciate his presence and expresses it openly. He tries to coax her to take a sip of water by offering her his hand. As her owner gently strokes her, she comforts herself by licking the water from his palm.
The warmth of the moment is matched by the pain it causes. Saying goodbye to a loyal dog is one of the most difficult things in the world. Being able to stay by their side and offer love and comfort is one of life’s greatest gifts.
