In the animal kingdom, the maternal instinct runs strong, and it is on full display when a baby elephant is swept away by a fast-flowing river. The young pachyderm was struggling to stay afloat, and all hope seemed lost until a hero emerged – a mother elephant.
The clip was shared by Parween Kaswan, a forest ranger, on his personal Twitter page with the caption: “the mother elephant used her trunk to pull the baby elephant and keep the elephant from being swept away by the water. If not, with the mother elephant rescued in time, the baby elephant could have ᴅʀᴏᴡɴᴇᴅ. This is the most amazing thing I have witnessed in days. A beautiful moment of motherhood.”
Specifically, a herd of elephants is crossing the river to go into the forest. Despite trying very hard to keep close to her mother, the baby elephant was still swept away by the strong current. Realizing that her baby was in ᴅᴀɴɢᴇʀ, the mother elephant immediately chased, using her trunk and a large body to hold the baby elephant.
After that, the mother elephant carefully took her baby out of the fast-flowing water and joined the herd to continue the journey. The exciting thing is that when the mother and daughter are struggling in the middle of the water, the elephants still patiently stand on the shore to wait for their fellow human beings and then continue to move.
It is known that this beautiful moment of motherhood was recorded at Nagrakata nature reserve, West Bengal state, India.
This heartwarming display of maternal care is a reminder of the powerful bonds in the animal kingdom. Elephants are known for their close-knit family groups, and this incident highlights the lengths to which a mother will go to protect her offspring.
The story of the baby elephant and its heroic rescuer is a testament to the power of love and the unbreakable bonds between a mother and her child. It is a reminder that in the animal kingdom, just as in our own, family comes first, and there is nothing more potent than motherlove.
