A photo showing ‘an old dog‘s last ride’ has tugged on the heartstrings of thousands of social media users.
Libra, an elderly pooch from Florida, featured in a photo taken shortly before she [ᴅɪᴇᴅ] back in 2013 that was recently posted on Reddit by one of her owners using the username ewhippieyoustink2.
Libra the Pit Bull mix was just a little sweet puppy when she was brought to the Kramer household. The cute pooch soon created a special bond with the family’s daughter, April, who was just 8 back then. As time goes by, Libra also became best friends with her sweet kitten sibling, Maxwell.
Over the years, April grew up and Libra turned into a strong source of support for her. But after being by her sister’s side for 15 cheerful years, senior Libra’s health started to have some problems. After several vet visits, her situation was quite clear – Libra was in a lot of pain and didn’t have much time left.
On her last car ride to the vet, April decided to roll down the window and let Libra enjoy her favorite experience. For the next 30 minutes, the sickly dog looked at peace as she felt the fresh air, and breeze and treasured the passing scenery with her eyes closed one last time.
Libra is certainly showing her age in the photo, with fine wrinkles around her snout and graying fur all over her frail body.
Libra has crossed the rainbow now, and her spirit is far away from any pain or suffering. Sad April has shared the emotional picture of Libra’s final car ride as a way to honor the legacy of her best childhood friend. It sure is amazing and heartbreaking at the same time.
