According to National Geographic, raccoons usually live in mixed forests and riverine environments. However, due to their ability to adapt to different environments, they can now inhabit mountainous areas, coastal marshes, and, most significantly, urban areas. And because they live so close to people, some become ᴠɪᴄᴛɪᴍs of car ᴀᴄᴄɪᴅᴇɴᴛs.
Since raccoons are a native species in North America, you can see them roaming around the streets and in your yard. In the early hours of a summer morning, a young raccoon was wandering the streets of a small town, disoriented and sᴄᴀʀᴇᴅ. The baby raccoon had ʟоsᴛ its mother in a ᴛʀᴀɢɪᴄ traffic ᴀᴄᴄɪᴅᴇɴᴛs and was now alone and ᴠᴜʟɴᴇʀᴀʙʟᴇ. Fortunately, fate had other plans for the little raccoon, as a kind-hearted man stumbled upon it and decided to take it under his wing.
Eric, who lived nearby, was on his way to work when he noticed the raccoon struggling to cross the road. Eric then found a baby raccoon, took it home, and tended it for a while. After a week or so, Eric brought the baby raccoon to his friend Mitchell, the owner of the raccoon YouTube channel Tito The Raccoon.
Mitchell already owned a full-grown raccoon named Tito, who was the one who brought Mitchell’s YouTube channel to fame. However, the man did not hesitate to take care of the ʜᴇʟᴘʟᴇss baby raccoon given to him. He placed the baby raccoon inside a big cardboard box to quarantine him. “I can’t ʀɪsᴋ him spreading anything to Tito,” Mitchell wrote in the video’s description. “Until he is vet-approved, they won’t have any contact.”
Mitchell decided to keep the baby raccoon and named him Cheeto.
He is featured on most of the videos from the Tito The Raccoon channel. This particular video racked up over 10 million views on YouTube, and people heartwarmingly shared their kind words toward Mitchell. Thanks to Eric and Mitchell’s efforts, this raccoon could live well and healthily.
The man’s kindness and compassion saved the life of a ʜᴇʟᴘʟᴇss creature. It was a small act of heroism that made a big difference in the life of a baby raccoon. And while the man may never know what became of his little companion, he can take comfort in knowing that he gave it the best possible start in life.
