Squirrels spotted taking time out to enjoy the sweet smell of flowers

Sometimes Mother Nature surprises us in the most lovely way possible with moments meant to melt our hearts to the bottom. And these so ‘curious’ squirrel-smelling flowers is nothing less.

Dutch photographer Dick van Duijn has a real talent for capturing the beauty of wild animals. His photos are both mesmerizing and incredibly cute. The 34-year-old’s wildlife photography work is very popular, with over 46,200 people all over the world eagerly following him on Instagram. Recently, van Duijn has been causing waves on the internet with his beautiful photos of ground squirrels smelling flowers.

“I saw pictures of these adorable animals from other photographers and wanted to photograph them myself. Because I like flowers and animals, I tried to combine them. I am always looking for ways to capture nature in its most unaffected form.”

When he was on a field of flowers near Vienna, Austria he spotted the little squirrel while trying to find out which flower would taste the best. The photographer spent nearly two hours and after almost 200 frames he managed to capture the extremely adorable snap.

“This curious ground squirrel started smelling and tasting the flower,” the photographer said. “I was really happy after capturing a photo like this.”

The photographer added more about the ground squirrels: “There were a lot of curious squirrels, so it was not hard to photograph them but to capture one with a flower-like this took a lot of patience and shots. The moment the squirrel smelled the flower and planted his face in the flower, I knew this was the picture of a lifetime!”

With these adorable snaps, the photographer could easily compete for the photo of the year with the Canadian amateur photographer, Steve Biro. Earlier, Biro managed to capture one of the most remarkable pictures I’ve ever seen.
