In the wild natural environment, animals compete ғɪᴇʀᴄᴇʟʏ for survival, especially predatory animals with many enemies and competitors. These guys need a “stumble” to be ready to punish and turn their opponent into a “meal” in the blink of an eye.
As high-ranking predators, it is difficult for lions and wild dogs to coexist peacefully in the same habitat. On a trip to the Duba expedition camp in Botswana with her family, Sister Ellen Clark, a psychologist, was fortunate to witness one of the “clashes” between these two powerful animals.
That day, our family was on a drive to explore the mysterious land of Africa when we encountered a group of animals with the most successful hunting rate here – wild dogs.
Although I have known their identities for a long time, when I saw them directly in real life, I could fully feel the somewhat magical beauty of these animals.
They possess fashionable coats with black, brown, yellow, and white spots; In particular, each dog has different places. No one is the same with one big round ear. Like human fingerprints, the coat color between individual African wild dogs is never the same, helping to identify members of the pack.
Watching African wild dogs hunt, you will know why they are hailed as Africa’s “best hunters.” The herd of wild dogs has 11 dogs, and each group has a clear division of duties. As noted by Ms. Clark, 3 of the best-looking dogs in the pack are busy handling the ᴄᴀʀᴄᴀss of a warthog while the rest of the group is divided into guarding. The group of tourists carefully watches all actions of the stray dogs.
Wild dogs surrounded the mother and lion cubs, trying to ᴀᴛᴛᴀᴄᴋ their cubs. But the mother lion always stands in front of her cubs to prevent the wild dogs from ʜᴜʀᴛɪɴɢ the cubs.
Despite being vastly outnumbered, the lioness fearlessly stood her ground, roaring and snarling at the wild dogs in an effort to deter them from ᴀᴛᴛᴀᴄᴋɪɴɢ her cubs. The wild dogs, sensing the lioness’s determination, hesitated and ultimately retreated. The lioness, still on high alert, continued to defend her cubs until the pack was completely out of sight.
This encounter between a lioness and a pack of African wild dogs is a testament to the incredible courage and protection instincts of mothers in the animal kingdom. The lioness’s bravery in the face of ᴅᴀɴɢᴇʀ demonstrates the lengths to which a mother will go to protect her young.
